Seems to be a decent build. Not that I had something against Intel, but are you aware of the fact that AMD Ryzen 2 is launching in April? There haven't been too many leaked benchmarks so far, but I'd still consider it, although that'd mean you'd have to wait another 2 and a half to 3 months...

Also, it's quite well balanced in my opinion. But as I said, Ryzen would still be an option, at least for me. Especially considering the fact that CPU overhead is less of a problem at higher resolutions.

Agree on the Ryzen 2 post above but if you want to go with Intel I made a few tweaks.

Better memory, SSD, and PSU

I'm not 100% sure on the motherboard though and how well it overclocks so I'll let others chime in on that.

Can you please leave your thoughts on my build? Is there anything I can do to make it cheaper or better? Please dont suggest anything that changes the price too drastically.

  • Buy a better power supply. That one is not very good, and for this system, something a little better should be used.
  • Also get a 250+ GB SSD.
  • If you are only gaming in 1080p at 60Hz, then a 1060 6GB would suffice if you want to spend a little less money; also if this is the case, consider buying a used Maxwell (9-series) card, a 980ti is about the same as a 1070 and can be found used pretty cheap.
  • EDIT: Just saw the monitor, but the 980ti advice still holds true.

PSU Tier List:

I agree about the PSU, but you saw he put in a 1440p monitor, did you?

I saw that late, I'm not used to people putting anything past parts on builds. I checked after I wrote that. It doesn't change my 980ti advice though.

Yeah, this does not a make a used 980Ti a bad deal by any means.

Yeah I'm waiting for the benchmarks still. Right now I'm just trying to settle on a build while waiting to get money for it
