So I've been thinking about buying a laptop capable of running modern video games but the problem is that all of them seem to run so god damn hot!

I mean I've been checking out Asus and MSI laptops with GTX 1060 cards and i7's and basically all of them run at over 80C on both CPU and GPU under load... Some of them even go as high as a 100C CPU

That is just not acceptable I mean I dont wanna spend 2000$ on something that is gonna burn up in a month or two

So what I'm asking is have you guys hade any laptops that didn't get as scorchingly hot? With the right cooling design I really do believe u can get these temperatures down I mean this is just too extreme

Greetings from a Laptop Newbie!

gaming and cool on laptops do not go together. Unfortunately you will have to deal with these temps as there is no way to really deal with it as well as a desktop in such a compact air restricting way as a laptop presents.

does noise bother you, i know on my GT62VR it has a dedicated turbo fan mode, it'll be loud, but with adequate headphones it should be fine for yourself

with that said i can keep it in 60 to 70 C under load with both fans working and a cooling pad helps a lot since it has a big intake on the bottom

No noise does not bother me, I just want the rig to be cool.. That sounds really good actually, this is exactly what I'm looking for!

Bit steep price tag here in Sweden though, will have to see if there are any alternatives :D

Which models? Not all of them runs hot. Those 100C temps only can be reached in heavy load scenario not normal usage

Yes I realise that but I still think its way too hot

Currently trying to find some more info on the MSI G73E VR, if this model has the same turbo fan feature as General Winter talks about I will go for this one! :)

If you really need a cool gaming laptop, the laptop needs to have a really good cooling design, undervolt CPU and GPU, repaste and even reseat the heatsink. Also, bulky laptops usually have better cooling capabilities, MSI GE Raider has a good cooling system for its size but not the best compared to something like MSI GT

So the GT series has GTX 1070/1080 cards?

Yes, even SLI (however it will definitely runs hot). Generally they have excellent cooling system.

Ok.. Sounds good but unfortunately I can't afford those, will have to talk to someone owning a GE series and see if those have the same capabilities.. I just can't grasp that they're actually trying to sell computers that get as hot as a cooking stove, its basically fraudulent
