Corsair VS650

Heyo, 

I was wondering whether or not to get a refurbished VS650, as I can pick one up for half the price of any other 650W PSU, and it has a decent 12V+ rail anyway. It's been used around 1,5 years as a demo model, so dunno if that really mattered to the longevity and performance. Need a new PSU as 450W wasn't enough, so I'd rather play it safe. Do you reckon it could power a GTX 770 and an FX-6100?

It could power that system, although I would be wary of it. See if you can find a CX550M

Would a 50A get worse than a 45A after 1.5 years?

It could easily, but a cx550m is more reliable new, not refurbished

I bought a demo GS800 about 3 years ago, still going strong today, there are risks involved with used parts, especially power supplies, since if they are defective then you can loose more than just the PSU if it goes, if you don't want to take the chance, get the CX550

I wouldn't bank on that, if it goes bad, it will most likely kill something else in the process, and the 550 is probably cheaper in your area if youre in the US.

the issue is more what it could damage if something has gone with it, for example the first GPU i ever board was killed over a few months by a dodgy PSU, some off brand I bought for £20 before I knew better, as long as you accept that, then go for it, as I said it worked great for me, but it could go very badly
