I'm most likely getting a 280X and that will be enough for max today, but when finished it should murder it.

Star Citizen is probably going to require 2-4 GPU's in series to max out its settings when done, unless development takes long enough that a sufficient single GPU solution is available.

from what ive heard already, they say that by the time the game comes out it will need a gtx 980 to get the game going on decent settings. which if there is any truth to that Im going to cry. but regardless, when that game comes out, it will be a whole new high end gaming PC that I will have to build for it to run.

According to Chris Roberts (guy behind the idea) that the current flagship/high-end models of GPUs will only be enought for medium settings.

By the time the full game os released in early summer of 2015, we could get ourselves an upgrade. Hell, maybe crossfire/SLI will help us.
