Hi All,

Recently upgraded my PC, I will give you specs before problem so you might be able to point out with the GPU is not working correctly...

CPU - Intel i5 8600k 5.1GHz OC

Motherboard - Asus Strix Z370-F

RAM - G.Skill 16GB DDR4 3200MHz

SSD - Samsung Evo 240

HDD - 2x 1TB WD Blue

Cooler - Corsair H100i

PSU - Corsair CXM 600W

GPU - Asus Strix 1070ti

I previously had an RX 480 before changing it to the 1070ti..

Any overclock causes system lockup on the 1070ti. If I overclock manually in MSI AB causes lockup soon as I try to open a game or benchmark test.

Even if I use Asus GPU tweak and use their own OC mode it causes a crash. I could use MSI AB to OC by just 1MHz and it'll crash.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like you got a lemon of a card.. if it works on stock, then there isnt anything you can do about it. if it crashes at stock, then you can RMA the card.

Might be your PSU that fails to put out the 600W this says your build with no oc's needs 424W, ocing your cpu willl get you what 40W more and overclocking gpu adds another 50W, idk I'm speculating I see that stock it's 180W and Oced might go to 220W, So with my exagerations you'd get close to having not enough power.

The other problem might just be your gpu itself.

Thanks for your help both. I will just leave stock for now as it does work but I'll upgrade my PSU in the future. Effort to unplug it all and install a new PSU.

Do you have the old style CXM with green in the decals? I believe you do if its a 600w unit. I've read that those are really not very good PSU's at all, so it could very well be the PSU causing the issue. MSI is normally pretty good quality so I think it would be rare that you got a lemon card. The new CXM with white in the decal that comes in a 650 flavor is an all new version and is much better than the old style, i have one with a 7600k and 1070ti both OC'd and haven't had any issues. Seasonic would be my recommendation though, the Focus Plus series is very well priced and from Johnny Guru's evaluation looks to perform at the "mythic level". I'll be replacing my CXM with one of those, but only because I need fully modular to better cable manage my small case.

yes thats the old, sub par version. its possible that PSU is limiting you. someone more knowledgeable than me could chime in though because a 600w PSU for your system should definitely be adequate.
