Hey guys, I've bought skyrim a few months back and I didn't really play much but I've been looking around and I saw that skyrim had mods (I didn't know this before, don't laugh at me...) so.. can someone recommend me some mods and install instructions. Also, I have a GTX 670MX F.Y.I..

Download Nexus Mod Manager and download mods like Falskaar, Convenient Horses, Immersive Armour, Immersive Weapons, Populated Lands Roads Paths, and if you want nicer looking textures and stuff, just go to the recommended mods section here http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/?

Does the performance version look very different vs the full one?

Where do I put the file from nexusmods?

I mostly run texture or convenience mods, so I can't recommend much in terms of actual new content, but I'll throw up what I've got. I would include links but I feel lazy right now. Shouldn't be too hard to search up on Nexusmods.com.

-The Unofficial Patches are a godsend. Do those first, although make sure you only get the ones for the content you have.

-SkyUI completely revamps the standard Inventory/spell screens into something much more manageable and convenient. The only drawback is you need to have SKSE installed for it to work properly.

-STFU (or Shut The F#$% Up) removes some of the more annoying dialogue from the game, so you don't want to tear out your own ear drums every time you go to town.

-SkyJubs Invisible Helmets is pretty self explanatory, but nice if you enjoy seeing your character's face after spending three hours in the character creation.

-Live Another Life replaces the long-ass intro sequence with Alduin and gives you a variety of back stories and different locations to start with. Very handy if you're an altoholic.

-If you have Hearthfire and want to adopt non-human kids, there are also mods that add Argonian and Khajiit children into the game. I have Khajiit Child Maisha.

-Along the same vein, if you want to marry non-human, similar mods exist that will add or change existing characters. Shines-Like-Silver the Argonian Bride, or Lydia and Ysolda are Khajiit are both good, but there are others as well.

-Bloody Dragon Bones is, strangely, one of my favorites. Adds a charred look to dragon skeletons, complete with flecks of sinew and meat hanging off.
-Beast Race Tail Toggle adds an item to the game that allows you to remove or reattach tails on your Beast Race character as you please. Good for use with specialty armor packs.

-A Quality World Map makes your in-game map much easier to read and adds some neat features like road overlays.

-360 Walk and Run Plus changes the third-person camera behavior a bit to act more traditionally, meaning the camera is no longer locked behind you while you run.

There are also lots of hi-res texture packs and body mods that you can use. I mention these together because it's a little saddening to have really nice scenery and characters that don't match, or vice versa. Note that body mods doesn't necessarily mean NUDE mods. Most of the best body mods have non-nude or underwear options, so you don't upset your mother or confuse your kids. Better Males, Calientes Female Body Mod, Coverkhajiits Male/Female, Forgotten Argonian Roots, Mature Skin Texture, Skyrim HD (4K pack), and Enhanced Blood Textures are the big ones I use. All of these can be configured to your exact liking, and the Skyrim HD even has 2K packs available for slower machines that still look a million times better than the standard textures.

EDIT: Added some more suggestions and some mild formatting to make the names easier to pick out.

Blackout - Intel Core i5-4670K | Xigmatek Dark Knight II Nighthawk Ed. | Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 (2GB) | 8GB Corsair Vengeance Mem. | Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H Mobo | 250GB Samsung 840 Series SSD | 1TB WD Black HDD | Seasonic Platinum SS-660XP2 660w PSU

Where do I put the file from nexusmods?

You can use the nexus mod manager to download and enable mods for Skyrim, otherwise the mods usually come with a readme that says where to drag and drop the files if you download them manually. Usually Data folder goes to main skyrim folder (steam/steamapps/common/skyrim) and textures, meshes, .esp's, bsa or bsl go in to the data folder.

If you're completely new to modding, I recommend watching Gopher's Beginner's Guide to Modding Skyrim.  It covers all the basics (Nexus Mod Manager, BOSS, SKSE) and goes into some of Gopher's favorite mods for immersion with lots of video examples.  Plus his voice isn't annoying, which is always a plus.

If you want just a list, Reddit has a nice thread on it as well.

He also has a long-running series on mods for Skyrim, Skyrim Mod Sanctuary, as well as a ton of videos on other aspects of modding this game such as a small tutorial on ENBs, though his testing of various ENBs is kind of short.  He only looks at around 4 or 5, though they are the some of the most popular ones.
