First PC build! Need help deciding.

KennethHatler

So I'm a longtime console pleb, looking to get into the pc master race. I'm looking at building a PC that can handle streaming and gaming at the same time since I just want to run a one pc setup for now. I plan to have 3 monitors eventually but for now I'll be using 1. I'm looking to spend no more than $6000 on the total setup including new desk and peripherals that I have included in the pcpartpicker list below. Any input on what I should change or if this is all I need would be greatly appreciated! I want to make sure that the PC can stay cool for hours everyday too.

How important are looks to you? You could save quite a bit if you went for less flashy components.

(asking so I know what the change on the partlist)

well you can drop the 960 Evo... That much is certain. Get a 1TB (or 2TB) Sata SSD in m.2 form factor. you wont notice a thing.

The 1000W PSU can go as well. So far it's a 500W MAX computer.

You'll probably want to add some HDD storage at some point unless you've got an external or NAS already setup somewhere.

Something like this might be better suited. Gave you a boot SSD and a mass storage drive for all your games.

Overclocking the GPU isn't really a necessity, it's got a pretty hefty factory overclock as it is. You could probably get to 5Ghz on the CPU with that cooler depending on thermal paste and silicon lottery.

you can get a 165hz 1440p monitor for the same price or less, go with that instead.

don't need the NVMe storage and 32gb of ram unless you're doing heavy editing/rendering work.

1000w is overkill, an 850w unit at the most if you're gonna SLI.

I was just going to get another SSD whenever that one got full

Dropping the 960 Evo right now. I plan to just put more storage in as time goes as I need it or maybe just getting an external. What's a NAS?

I always heard SLI didn't really do anything

SLI does have relatively good scaling in games. You will get much better performance at 4k and 1440p 144hz

only when supported, which is dwindling these days in favor of high powered single card configs.

just because one can doesn't mean one should. A $3000 GPU for gaming, while superior, does not make a good purchasing decision at over 3 times the price of a 1080ti.

Dual 1080 tis are the best option but consider dual vega 64 maybe if they ever restock, crossfire has much better scaling than crossfire if you care about scaling
