1050 TI Compatibility

Hello there,

Today my Gigabyte 1050TI OC arrived and I was so exited about it just to be disappointed at the end. 

I mounted it, plugged the 6-pin connector and I started the PC but the monitor shows 'No Signal'. So I get the GPU and gave it to my uncle. It works. He said that the GPU would not start because of my motherboard. I have a H61M-S2PV Gigabyte motherboard with PCI-E 2.0 and my GPU has PCI-E 3.0.

As far as I know, this would not create any problems and it should run just fine... but it doesn't. 

 

Is the motherboard really the problem?

Did you have a gpu in there before? 

Pcie 3.0 is 2.0 compatible no problem. 

Maybe the slot is defective in the Frist place.

nope, might be that you have graphics set to use igpu (E: in bios) so it completely ignored the gpu

There may be a problem but it is not pcie 2/3 compatibility issues. Gpus work just fine on older slots. you might want to look into making sure your psu is good enough and check to make sure your monitor was on the correct input, it sounds silly but I have made that mistake before

Did you connect your monitor to the GPU itself?

I ran 2 months on my integrated GPU because I sold my HD 5770 and as I said, it ran just fine on that card. My PSU is pretty old and I have to use lots of adaptors because I don't even have a 6-pin...

Go into igpu again, uninstall AMD drivers and with DDU and then install Nvidia drivers.
