So I recently made myself a makeshift server out of my old gaming rig so I could play a game with my friends... but as per usual Microsoft is SHOVING updates and "features" down my throat with a windows update.... Its the Feature update for windows 10 version 1709.  It keeps forcing me to install it, but every time it will get to about the second time it has to restart during the update process (between 33% and 75%) and then it will just leave me with a black screen while its trying to restart, But never restart, like literally I've waited hours and it never restarts... so I do a hard reset and it starts finishing the update, only to get to 81% and then freeze and never budge an inch after that, leaving me to do a hard reset and then have to repair windows. Then I'll be able to get back on and run my server again, UNTIL IT DECIDES ITS TIME TO TRY THE UPDATE AGAIN!  What can I do? The windows version is Windows 10 home 64 bit, specs are i5 2400, 6GB DDR3, GTX 480, all with a 600 watt power supply.  All my drivers and such are up to date as well.

No its not that update, its the features update from like 2 months ago or so....

IDK try reinstalling windows, that seems to fix everything?

Please don't argue with me, I am just trying to help, or be helped. (we are all humans right?)

I'd rather not reinstall windows because I can't back up my files at the moment.

found this:

you will have to open the Start Menu. Next, click on the Settings link.

Having opened the Settings panel, click on Update and security and here select Recovery settings.

Next click on the Get started button under Go back to an earlier build section.

The process will start, and you will be asked some questions for information purposes, as to why you are going back to the previous build of Windows 10.

Please don't argue with me, I am just trying to help, or be helped. (we are all humans right?)

Use Windows 10 update assistant. Majority of the time when I run into this problem for the Fall Creators Update this program fixes it and is a safe and easy install that requires very little space. Re-install windows like you have been but then install this and use that program to update. If that still doesn't work, respond on here and I'll help you out. (I do this all day at a tech support company.)
