Hey, I have feeling that my CPU is underperforming, especially on BF1.

Is there a way to check if its true?

what makes you think that? is it fps or cpu temps?

Youtube search how to setup MSI afterburners on screen display, or how to enable BF1's on screen display via console command.

Showing stats in Realtime on top of your game in the corner showing current usages for CPU/GPU/RAM if need be...

Before you do, KNOW that BF1 eats up 4core4thread CPU's for brekky. 100% load 90% of the time, reducing some GPU usage at times causing framedrops.

Map dependent, the severity also depends on the rest of your system hardware,.. but BF1 is more demanding than most games in regards to CPU's.

It craves more cores & threads.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

What makes me think that its underperforming is the fact that me and my friend almost have the same setup (GTX 1070, i5-4570 and 8gb of ram), and yet he plays on high - ultra 60 fps while I play on Med with drops. (with Vsync on, without vsync I have terrible tearing).

I look on the GPU Usage aswell to make sure its not the GPU and the Usage is like around 30-40 so its probably not the GPU.

yeah that could be a problem! look at your temps i bet its getting very hot under load with that. Thermal paste may help a tiny amount. If it is getting too hot as i expect then a bigger cooler will be needed

Also, since I have a mini ITX Mobo, I cant have a big fan.

Could you please help me find a good one which is not big.

Only thing height should be bigger than 160mm (6.3inch)

space will be an issue, probably some small AiO like a Corsair H45 as you dont need a lot of height

is it getting WAY too hot then?

Checking now.

40 min of playing.

I put it on Turbo for 3.6Ghz, without vsync there are drops to 40.

What could be the problem?

So yeah your temps seem fine but your usage is quite alarming at nearly 90% for BF1

so my thoughts are background apps and bloatware might be contributing more than 10% usage on your CPU at which point your frames will drop sharply as your CPU is run out of processing power. do you have like a billion icons in your systray?

do you see that leaving 10% - 11% resources (probably less cos your alt+tab out of the game) is really not enough for windows, discord and all that jazz to run off with out it impacting your games performance. why yours is like that and your friends isnt well thats a superb questions. you are definitely pushing your CPU extremely close to its performance limit maybe even exceeding it.

Hope you get to the bottom of it sorry i couldn't help resolve this :(
