Hey guys

Looking to upgrade my current rig for a few reasons. Mainly:

  • PC won't post 90% of the time unless I remove a random stick of ram, post successfully, power down and reinsert
  • One of my SSDs is now erroring causing all sorts of issues.
  • Loud CPU cooler pump

Current setup:

4690k

Old H50 cooler : This bad boy with a huge pump! http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1025/corsair_h50_kit.jpg

X97M-DS3H Mboard

2x120gb SSD in Raid 0

1x 1TB HDD

1070 FE

4x2gb ddr3

RM650X PSU

Antec P180 mini case

I'm looking to get the following items:

Intel Core i5-8600K 3.60GHz LGA1151 OEM Processor £234.99

Gigabyte Z370M D3H LGA 1151 DDR4 mATX Motherboard £117.11

Corsair Hydro Series H60 - High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler £69.29

Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit - Red 1.35V £105.98

Samsung 250GB 960 Evo M.2 SSD £116.9

Total: £644.28

Can anyone see anything wrong in my selection? I've stuck to 8gb of RAM for now as I do okay with it at the moment, and if the prices ever come down I can upgrade later.

Don't get a 120mm AIO, get a cheaper air tower

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

How about one 8gb stick instead of 2x4 and then get a second stick later?

I've gone for it as I usually find building in a PC with a huge air cooler somewhat annoying, especially as the p180 mini is an older case it's not as flexible as others. Main reason is that the case has a huge exhaust fan mounted at the top of the case so my current set up is

Intake at the front to feed the 1070 FE. CPU radiator mounted at the rear intaking cold air and getting exhausted instantly above by the huge fan at low RPM. I'd imagine the top mounted fan would disrupt the airflow for a air cooler?

you dont need an especially large air cooler to beat a 120mm AIO though
