so i just saw a post on facebook and this was it

Image may contain: text

is that possible? i know you can inject it into pictures or just use a link to a infected website. but can you really get a virus from text? i get it if like a emoji or like a flashing heart thing i can see the potential in that.

im just wondering if this is a real post or one of those don't forget to fill your blinker fluid posts. i dont use facebook to message so its not like im concerned but im curious

I know in the past most chain letters came with a picture and the picture was what infected you if that was the purpose of the chain letter.

Could be possible, if it's sending in an actual message then it seems more likely than just text like what you're reading right now.

I don't think you can hide them in plain text, though I would not be surprised if they could be hidden in enriched text formats just like you can hide them in .docx and .xlsx files.

thats what i was thinking, it might need to be like an ASCII text or something. but from what the picture says im assuming they mean just normal facebook message unless facebook allows that and that doesn't really seem like a thing to me. but then again i dont have all the knowledge about internet security

BMP images seem a little safer. You can read pictures in note pad, sometimes people can throw code into them. Unlikely but pictures yeah. Fonts I don't have the slightest idea. Usually if you see links in your images like jpgs it could be a security problem.
