Aw common. Even if we did go with the single machine route at the very least we gotta start with 4 way or an 8 way board.

PC are tools. The most overkill depends on how the tool will be used.

@SonnOfSwagg As @brob stated, it obviously depends on what the computer would be used for. The 7980XE might look like the most overkill single chip one could buy, but it gets outperformed by the 8700k in most games, and by multi-socket Xeon configurations in most multi-threaded workloads. So it's not the most overkill in any of these scenarios, but it could very well be the best compromise between core count and single-core performance if you're trying to build the most overkill streaming machine, for example. So tl;dr, you could buy the most expensive parts that could reasonably fit in a single giant case, and it still wouldn't be the best for every single-system use case.
