Hey all, just as a precaution I thought I'd share the contents of an email I received this morning from Kinguin.net.  There is also a link to a hacker news article - https://thehackernews.com/2017/12/data-breach-password-list.html that I removed along the link they had put in for me to reset my password.

If you have a kinguin account better check your email.

Recently, security firm 4iQ have discovered a new collective database on the web. In order to protect you from this global security breach, we strongly advise to change your password.

In order to to do that please click on the link to log in and change your password. This procedure will ensure the security of your account.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that changing your password frequently, and keeping different passwords for different online services increases your security and can help prevent account breaches.

It's important to understand that this external data breach does not necessarily mean that your Kinguin account is not safe, but as a precautionary measure we want you to take this action and change the password.

If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Regards,

Same here I didn't get anything.

Interesting....

Upon doing some research I see this is the first and only newsletter@kinguin.net email I have received.  Everything else from Kinguin has been from different email accounts.  I'm not saying it's fake, or a phish or anything.  Both links in the email took me to legit websites.  I did go the long way through the kinguin.net site to reset my password instead of doing it through the email link.

Maybe I'll forward it to Kinguin support and see if they sent it....?

I would send it to their support. Couldn't hurt to make sure.

Chatted with Patryk at Kinguin -

Yes, there was message like this. There is not much of a risk, but we are just warning the customers that there is a big database that compiles emails and passwords from many historical breaches. So just in case, you can change the password! You can do it for example here: http://id.kinguin.net/

Seems it's legit.
