Hello LTT Forums!

I just found an old pair of headphones I used to use about 5 years ago. The Philips SBC HP890.Last times I used them they sounded fine from what i can remember.

I pluged them into my pc with an ASUS z170-A MB to test them and found that they sound broken. The sound sounds broken and muffled and the base is just weird.

The weird part is tho when i played around with the Realtek HD Audio program and changed the LR slider to eather L or R. the sound sounded very close to normal. ther was still a little bit of destortion but nothing major. All in all I could enjoy the music

Im just wondering why this may be? if someone knows audio I would like an awnser to this :P

My first thought was that it could have something to do with the impedance but after seeing they only have 32 Ohms it should be fine.
Have you tried resetting everythin gin the realtek audio settings?
Could it be that the windows sound settings and messing around with something?

I have the asus version of realtek audio and the only setting i have changed ever is the setting for if you are using headphones or speakers. it is set to over ear/studio headphones.

I'm wondering about the noise level on your system at the moment. Maybe using an AMP/DAC might help, if you're not already?

no im not. im only using the port at the back of my pc.

the thing is tho, i have the Symphonized Wraith v2 as my daily driver and they work just fine.

and i also have a really old sound system conected with some big speakers (Pioneer XD-J215M) and this also works fine (the Wraith headphones is connected to the pc)

are you using discord?

I had a problem for a really lomg time where discord messed with my settings for a single audio output and it took a really long time to figure out. maybe you can check those settings and then the windows audio settings for each output
