Go to solution Solved by newcbomb,

@TheDistressIsReal It should give you a huge bump in performance. Especially since it has 12 threads.

Hello forums !

I am broke and I have 60 bucks atm so I am looking to upgrade my old S20 Workstation (ThinkStation) that currently has Xeon E5506, 24 GB's of RAM and GTX 1050 Ti. I bought that PC for $100 and I am not building a new system.

Which CPU should I buy cause I figured out that my CPU is bottlenecking GPU ?
I am mostly playing PUBG, Modded Minecraft, Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty World at War & Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Also my Machine Type Model is 415752U

5650 is only good if you can over clock, the clock speed is pretty slow. I would look at a w3680 maybe, it is 3.2Ghz iirc.

Black Knight-

Ryzen 5 5600, GIGABYTE B550M DS3H, 16Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz, Asrock RX 6800 XT Phantom Gaming,

Seasonic Focus GM 750, Samsung EVO 860 EVO SSD M.2, Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe, Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon

Daughter's Rig;

MSI B450 A Pro, Ryzen 5 3600x, 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz, Silicon Power A55 512GB SSD, Gigabyte RX 5700 Gaming OC, Corsair CX430

Higher clock speeds don't always mean that a processor is better. Always check the benchmark scores.

In gaming 2.7Ghz will always be the suck.

6 cores, 12 threads, 3.33Ghz base clock, 3.6Ghz turbo, 12MB cache, 288GB max memory.  $60 shipped in US.

Here is mine.

While I am a firm believer in 6 core processors, the clock speed of the X5687 cannot be scoffed at.  4 cores, 8 threads @3.6Ghz base clock for $42.99

For 55$ bucks the only processor you can get is the Pentium 4400 with a 1050ti you shouldn't get any bottle necks it runs at 3.3 Hz,has 2 cores, and 2 threads

OEM workstations wont OC. Thats why I recomended the other higher clocked CPUs. Looking at benchmarks it seems that the difference between the 5650 and 5680 at stocks speeds will be minimal anyway.

I think so, If you feel the need the X5680 will be even cheaper in a year and you can pick up an extra .5Ghz.

I wish we had one in Oregon. Maybe one in Portland but that's just too far away. If you have some thermal paste throw it in there and let us know how it goes.
