Hey guys,

just returned my swtichtech H220 to ncix today. I upgrade my main pc from a corsair h100i to the H220 in hopes when i get more money to expand it with more rads and a water block for my video card. im running an old amd phemon x6 1100t overclocked to 3.9ghz. on my h100i max temp on prime 95 with all fans on low was aroun 30-35. bought the switch tech and it jumped to 55-62 with all fans on max, and my amd crashes at about 58-60. so i retuened it and got dinged for the 15% restocking fee cause the tech there didnt belive me that 60 is max recommend for my cpu. anyways should i go back to a h100i or try again with a differant unit swifttech, did i just get a bad unit? the tech and ncix said it was the most returned water cooler which made me not want to try again.

i found the pros for the swifttech h220 was expandablity but the cons where didnt work pump was super loud

corsair worked awesome quite but no expandabily

please help.

also well waiting to dicide but my old coolermaster air cooler in i run max 45 on prime 95

Turn the pump rpms down that seems to be a large problem with the h220

Hope I could help!

you must of mounted it incorrectly.  I know I had issues with the backplate not fitting properly in the mobo holes and I was worried about it not making good contact.

no way you should of had such high temps.  Did you try re mounting , etc.?

Im returning my h220 for a replacement as my pump power wire melted and arc'd where it goes in the pump.

other then that it was working great for almost 4 months.... the same day I also just replaced the swiftech fans I put on my second rad with nf-f12s for a total of four...all where connected to the motherboard for use with fanxpert

next time I will make sure to use the pump with the pwm splitter to get power directly from the psupply. It could of been random event but its possible the 4 nf-f12s and the 6w pump was too much for all the headers....hopefully not.

Ahh, now I see what happened here. So you had a total of four fans connected to your Mobo and the pump? If this is the case then no wonder the pump shorted out. You're lucky that nothing else did too. These pumps require quite a lot of power and that's why we suggest using and include our 8-Way splitter. This splitter ensures that the pump gets the power that it needs. Now I'll know what to look for when I see issues like this come up in the future.
