New SSD.

Antonios

I have just bought some parts to build a low end pc. (amd ryzen 3 1200, gt 1030 nvidia, an Asrock AB350M Pro4, an 8gb gskill aegis ddr4 and a Western Digital Green M.2 240GB)

Now im thinking that i did wrong and i should buy either a 2.5 green ssd (for lower temperature) or a Samsung 960 Evo NVMe M.2 250GB (higher speed).

What do you think?

I havent received it yet. Should i change it?

Cute magpie :)

For your specs, you won't notice a difference buying a 960 Evo and there's no performance difference between the M.2 and the 2.5" Greens, so if your motherboard has an M.2 slot (it does) I don't see why you should change.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Nah only a select few SSDs even come close to throttling and that's under torture workloads.

Not that you'll notice. A lot of the samsung's perceivable advantage is when working with huge files in real time, like in video editing or scientific simulations. For a gamer like us it's not worth the price markup.

thank you very much my friend.

In general, my m.2 has any difference in speed with the 2.5 ssd? WD officially says its the same.

If it fits the budget, I'd go for the Samsung drive. Reasoning? 10 gb (7 gb optimal usage?) extra storage space.

On high-end NVMe SSDs the additional bandwidth of the M.2 connector is very relevant to achieve high sequential read and write speeds; on an entry level TLC flash SSD like the Green it doesn't change performance.

just for instance the price difference between Samsung 850 Evo M.2 stick SSD and the SATA 2.5" Version is $20 (the cheaper version of the SSD is the SATA 2.5")

In that case OP should grab a 275GB MX300

Best capacity in its class and still decent performance

I wrote up there that if you want to return the WD Green, the Crucial MX300 is a good 35GB more capacity and (a bit) higher performance as well, consider it

ok, so I agree with Energycore's suggestion. if you want to save money and then put to upgrading the CPU i would say cancel the order
