Windows isn't free no matter if you want to develop for it or not.

The only time that you can get a legitimate copy is if you are in full time education/work in education and the establishment you are at/work for has a subscription to dreamspark premium.

Alternatively you can get Linux and cross-compile for compatibility on windows.

Arch Linux on Samsung 840 EVO 120GB: Startup finished in 1.334s (kernel) + 224ms (userspace) = 1.559s | U mad windoze..?
