yeah, the 4300 is pretty shitty in 2017. get the 1070, then prepare for a quick upgrade imo.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

I wouldn't even consider upgrading anything until you get a new CPU. It would be way better to get a new CPU than to blow all your money into a single new GPU. Question is, what is your budget? For example, you could get a Ryzen 1200 with 8GB of RAM, a new mobo, and a 1050 TI 4GB for around $40-90 (depnding on which brand) cheaper than a 1070. Your going to get a better value out of the Ryzen with a 1050 TI becuase the bottleneck is much smaller and an FX 4300 is going to sturggle with most modern titles. The FX series is really old and outdated and becoming more and more obsolte with each year.

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1200 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($109.49 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($61.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Aegis 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($87.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GAMING X 4G Video Card  ($151.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $411.44
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

He already has a GPU in his build and unless it's like a RADEON 4850 then I would get a 8400 and go from there

My life

Well technically pretty much any CPU that can run windows and whatever games you're looking to play can "work" with a 1070, however, I would be looking to get a Ryzen 1600 or an i5 8600k with preferably 16GB of RAM to pair with a 1070. As for choosing between the CPUs the i5, for the most part, will beat out the 1600 in most games, but the 1600 is probably your better choice if you're looking to record/stream. The i5 is more expensive and the motherboards available are also most expensive so the Ryzen also has that going for it. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8600K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-1600/3941vs3919

Edit: Also what is your current GPU?

it's a R7 240 i think

Honestly getting the 1070 would probably help the most but you're also going to want to upgrade the CPU at some point. If you could save up for the Ryzen 1600 that would also be best.
