Ryzen 1600 Build Help

J_M_O_

1. Budget & Location

Under $1000, Missouri, United States

2. Aim

Run handbrake, plex server, 3d printer, storage.

Side note: This is not my main computer. I have a gaming computer. This is to run all the "other" stuff so my gaming computer is free.

3. Monitors

Already have

4. Peripherals

already have

5. Why are you upgrading?

I was dumb and tried to go cheap on my original build and now the parts are "old" and expensive, as in motherboards that I could find cost $350. The TMPIN2 if not thermal throttled, which I found out after bios update, will get up to 104C or if I have safe temp limit set it will cause system to thermal throttle at stock speeds while running handbrake.

Original build I attached as picture, have 500gb SSD as primary drive

6. What I am planning on getting

https://secure.newegg.com/Wishlist/SharedWishlistDetail?ID=nf3T9rLQ86PBGNSMoRLiPA%3D%3D

BTW, I really like the case, I have one for my gaming pc but willing to get something else if a better solution. I love the hot swap bay.

*Edit* will be putting 500GB SSD from old system into new system. Also, I have a GTX 960 I plan on putting in new system mainly just for Folding @ Home.

I appreciate any help.

I would get the X370 prime pro + Define R6 instead but otherwise looks good

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

I appreciate your feedback. My only question is how reliable is that cooler? The only reason I ask is because it has several reviews saying the pump dies really quick. I kind of ignored the bad reviews for the motherboard of my old rig and it was a mistake.

I should have made it a little more clear but I plan on installing the 500gb SSD from old rig into the new one. I have a GTX 960 also, that I plan on throwing in the new rig since I shouldn't need much from the video card, mainly just to run Folding @ Home.

I appreciate everybodies help and I am reviewing the suggestions and looking at the reviews and stuff.

it just says there's no cooler, which you should be able to reuse from your old rig.

When I look at the specs for the processor it says the only supported memory is DDR4-2666. Usually cpu's list several different memory it supports but this one doesn't, does that mean you have to use 2666 speed memory with that cpu?

Just asking because I am more of a novice builder and don't know what can be used with what if not specifically stated. I appreciate the feedback though.

nope, it means cpu can go up to 2666mhz but you can just set XMP profile to the rated speed of the ram you have.

I notice both you and somebody else recommend the SLI/ac over the Fatal1ty ASRock motherboard. Is there something I am missing. They look pretty close to the same thing except the Fatal1ty is $10 more and has a much better review rating.

Not arguing just a novice and don't know what I am missing.

Still looking through all recommendations, thanks again.

I appreciate your patience with me.

I hate wifi so that is not a concern, lol.

With VRM that is referring to the power phase correct? Don't they both have 12 power phase? I know newegg says that SLI/ac has 16 powerphase towards the top but if you scroll down it says it only has 12 power phase. If you go to Asrock website it says both boards are 12 power phase.

It's not that I hate it, i guess, but I just highly prefer wired connections. Less interference. When I upgrade my "wifi" setup it won't be as bad, just have to pick and choose what I upgrade. Right now I would prefer to upgrade my "home server".

You are recommending DDR4-3000 but the motherboard says DDR4 2933+(OC), what do I have to do to get the ram to work with the motherboard?

If you can get it at 2800 you'll be fine, the difference between that and 3000 is minimal.
