AVR or walloutlet?with extra question.

Hi. This is my first time here. I have two questions one that isn't really related but I hope you can help me if you have any ideas

I just had a computer assembled. I'm used to using an old computer where you would plug the pc into a AC Automatic Voltage Regulator. I'm asking if its necessary for this build or is it fine to just plug it in right away to the wall outlet.

(Edit: If it is what kind do I need?like the necessary Watts)

I'm a total noob sorry.

I'll just post what I got for reference

Intel I5-7500

Gigabyte GA B250M-D3h

Ripjaws 8gGB PC4-2400

Seage ITB Banacda ST1000DU010

Cougar VTX 600 CGRBS

PALIT GTX 1060 6GB Jet

Styx FC

I'm trying to figure out why there is no signal on my monitor when I turned the computer on. I already kept switching from HDMI and VGA and nothing. I even switched my in use monitor to another older monitor to check and nothing.

I live fairly far from where I had this assembled so it would be nice if I could find a way to fix this.

My recommendation would be to use PCPartPicker.com, they have a wattage calculator and you can also check if all of your other parts are compatible together.

As for whether or not you will need the voltage regulator it depends on your power supply and where you live, if your power supply is a 220V PSU and you live in a 110V area, or vice versa, you will need the voltage regulator, however if the voltage matches up, you do not need a voltage regulator.

If your power supply has any kind of warranty it will probably cover you for this, I accidentally purchased a wrong voltage PSU and it blew on me, thankfully it didn't take any other parts and I got a replacement from the retailer.

As for your last question, make sure all the connections from the GPU to the motherboard and PSU are perfectly in.

Welcome to the LTT forums!

Thank man. This is my first time investing a bit more on a computer and I'm unsure about a lot of things. Got too exited when I opened it only to find out I can't use it right away. haha. sad. Before packing it for travel I saw it run fine. They let me see Windows 10 desktop so I was assuming it would be just a plug and use when I get home.

Could the mismatch of the voltage be the reason why there is no display signal on my monitor?

I plugged the items in and got

Load Wattage:252 W
Recommended PSU Wattage:302 W

and my pc's power supply the Cougar VTX 600 right? which is 600w so no problem there right?

I have no idea in regards to the voltage of my area

So generally, it would be recommended to just get an AVR? So should I purchase an AVR with 300 to 400 voltage? or match it with the power supply?

Also did I do permanent damage to my parts when I used a 240 (or was it 220) AVR? I also tried plugging it directly to the wall. I didn't run it for too long though, turned it off after waiting if the monitor would finally receive the display signal and didn't.

I repeated this 4 to 5 times.

Still seems to run fine. Should I avoid doing this in the future?
