so i have just gotten my first gaming pc in about 10 years and the motherboard is a Gigabyte GA AB350M-DS2

and i want to know how much real benefit there is to flashing the BIOS and how Risky is it really.

the BIOS is currently F1 but there is up to F10 available to download.

These days there's very little harm in bios updating. As long as you don't have some random power outage, or your cat doesn't jump on the power button in the middle of the 3 minute update, you should be fine.

If you do plan to update, update to F4. F10 is an update to AGESA 1072a which was reported to have issues with overclocking. ASRock actually removed their 1072a update. With Ryzen's memory compatibility issues, it's definitely advised to update the bios. System Stability and Memory Compatibility are often improved. I expect AGESA 1072b to be out soon and hopefully it'll be worth using.

thank you

Oh, and Gigabyte offers Dual Bios, so if something bad DOES happen, the original bios can be restored.
