Hello Guys i'm new here, and i need some help, my system configuration currently is this one

AMD FX-6300
GTX1060
8gb Ram
Windows 10 Professional

i know that my cpu is a bottleneck to my GPU but i'm not here to talk about this it's my ram and my system the problem.

i had 12gb before and my computer was running actually pretty smooth, but then a 4gb ram stick just decide it wasn't going to work anymore, and now my computer is really struggling, i can't play some games that i could play on the max settings even at minimum, like Overwatch, Divinity Origins 2, and some others some even straight spill at my face that i don't have memory enough like NIer-Automata, i get a error saying that i don't have enough memory and closes. i went to my system window, at my windows and notice something, there it shows that i have 8gb memory but i can only uses 4gb, i assume that my windows is taking the other 4.

I have some other versions here that i could install but i want to know if there's is one that uses less memory before go wasting any keys

i can use windows 7 premium, Basic / Windows 8.1 and XP of course xD (but i don't think XP is going to be much of use XD)

Just some considerations: i have 100% sure that my 4gb is gone i tried in another computer, i tried to swap slots , i took it to an a repair guy who tested my slot and my ram and condemned my RAM, and i can't ask the manufacturer for defects because it's fairly old 4 or 5 yo i guess, the warranty it's already gone.

It sounds like you're running a 32-bit version of Windows 10 (I assume you mean Professional? There is no 'Premium'!).

That would explain why you are only able to use 4GB of RAM. If that is the case, then you would need to reinstall Windows 10 with the 64-bit version.

Stop and think a second, something is more than nothing.

Lol My bad it's the professional but it's not the 32-bit version, i check it, and when i had the 12gb it said i could only use 8gb

Jesus, something bad happened. 4GB of memory reserved for hardware is just absurd.
Can you open MSCONFIG->Boot->Advanced Options and check if maximum memory is unchecked?

Well yea i don't quite know what's wrong i tough window 10 require that amount of memory, it was like this from the very beginning when i've installed.

i' look into it and it's unchecked

No, it usually takes 30~200MB for hardware.

Try to go into Regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management, then set ClearPageFileAtShutdown as 1, then reboot.

If that doesn't work, try to reset your bios.

i did it, still the same problem =\ i'll try to reset my bios but i`m kinda noob with all the bios stuff and i don`t really know how to do it, it something specifically to each MOBO ? or if i look on the internet for guides i can find a generic one ?]

just in advance thanks for all the help and support man

You usually can reset it setting to default values, or shorting some pins on the motherboard, or removing the mobo battery.

Or that 8GB stick can be faulty, and when you had 12GB or ram installed, those 4GB missing were not from the 4GB stick, but from this one.

No need to thank me before you fix the problem xD

Yea now i'm just lost.. it didn't work, i thought about updating my bios since there's a newer version but in the description it only says that has a improved compatibility for another CPU, and i don't think it's going to work.

here's some information after i've reset the BIOS,

On the memory part i'll translate, it says

Physical Memory Installed (RAM) - 8GB

Total Physical Memory - 3,98 GB

Total Virtual Memory - 5,36 GB

Virtual Memory Available - 2,62 GB

(i'm sorry for this last one but i'm not familiar with some technical words,)

Paging file space - 1,38GB

Ok, can you try to install your 4GB stick and remove the 8GB one, then start Windows again and check for hardware reserved memory? If it shows those 4GB as usable, it means that your 8GB stick is faulty and you should replace it.

PS.: Brasileiro também :P

Well that won't be possible that 4GB it's really a goner, completely fried, my computer won't even boot with it on any slot, and i trow it away kkkk, i think that might be a Bios update problem maybe, when i reset the bios i was wandering trough the bios menu afeter changing time and realize that on my bios it only says that the total memory on it is 4GB nowhere it says anything about 8GB and plus there's a newer version from 2014 for my bios ( my version is from 2013) but i never flashed a bios i don't know if i should --" if i screw this up i think my MOBO will be a goner too =\

LOL didn't realize that xD ok no more translate kkkk

it's possible a stick to be Half fried ? lol i thought when it gone it was gone for good, i can't actually say when, since the beginning a bought the system with 16GB and ever since i had 12 GB (as everything was running butter smooth and never bother me to the point i had to deal with ( and i thought windows 10 was taking that 4GB so that really made me go: meh whatever) one day i really got that into my head searched on the web and saw that it could be windows and could not, just for the sake of "what if it isn't the windows ?" i swapped the RAMs and then don't know if static or other thing fried my 4GB that just stopped working, placed the 8GB back closed everything got made and went back to gaming, and didn't bother, even looking what my ram was if i had 8GB or 4GB, but didn't feel any difference in my game play, just on the last 3 or 4 months that the performance went down, so i can't really say, well i'll take to some one to look into it then
