One final question...

Gigabyte ga z97 hd3 or asrock z97 extreme6

I recommend the Gigabyte GA-z97 HD3 over the extreme6 mainly because the hd3 has support for appcenter which allows you to easily tune your cpu frequency and the like (through a plugin) as well as the @bios utility (also a plugin) that allows one to update the bios throughout the Windows environment.

If you do update the bios and you end up bricking it (the board will be basically dead), the gigabyte board supports dual bios (which the as rock board lacks) In the case of the previously mentioned 'bricking your board', just clear the cmos and your back to normal.

Hi,

My mobo recently stopped working due to weak core ic ( as quoted by the it technicians ) and was recommended to change psu as well.... My setup is an i7-4790k with noctua nh-d14 cooler, 2 hyperx fury 8gb 1866mhz ddr3 ram, a gigabyte gtx 760 windforce 3x oc, on an Asus z97k and corsair vs650... I'm looking for a budget motherboard ... Pls don't suggest the maximus hero 7 as it's way too expensive here in India.. and most of the motherboards are out of stock..

And a decent psu with 600 or 650 w range..

I might add another gpu next year.

Thank you.

honestly at this point with 4th gen, just get any Z97 motherboard you can, I've been on the MSI Gmaing 5 and super happy but yeah, due to stocks just get whatever is available at the cheapest price

Obsidian:

MSI GE60 2PE i7-4700HQ / 860M / 12GB / WE 1TB / m.Sata 256gb/Elagto USB HD Capture Card

Razer Deathadder Chroma / Razer Blackwidow TE Chroma / Kingston Cloud2's / Sennheiser 429 / Logitech Z333

I searched for a couple of motherboards...

The Asus z97-a was out of stock in most sites

Asrock z97 extreme6 looked like a viable option

Gigabyte z97m ud3h was overpriced.

noting wrong with asrock, not my first pick but yeah just something to last you a few more years before the whole system is outdated.

I'm also on 4th gen and if my board guys I might just upgrade, you can sell that CPU for a good amount to cover the upgrade.

Two options came up.. asrock extreme 6 and z97 anniversary... And I think I'm going to go with the extreme 6..

Thank you for your time...

And which psu should I buy

Look for a high quality PSU as it is the life of your system and you seriously don't want to cheap out on a power supply. I recommend thermaltake, cooler master or corsair (if available in India).

Wouldn't it be worth upgrading to 8th gen? Since you have to replace the Mobo anyway.

It would be but I'm flat out broke right now! And I can't work without my computer! Any funds required for upgradation rests in the fate of my computer's hands... I mean mouse and keyboard.

And which smps would you recommend?

ThermalTake Smart RGB 700, Corsair AX760i or Cooler Master v750 would be a good option.

An SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply) is not really needed as any of the above options have 80+ gold efficiency. If you want the most efficient PSU in the above list, I would recommend the v750.
