So recently my computer underwent an update and was stuck at 16% for about 3 hours, so I decided to shut it off manually. When I turned it back on it stayed at the windows 10 loading screen when you first boot it up on your computer, for about an hour. It eventually turned on, it just took an extremely long amount of time. I was wondering if there's a way to fix this? I've googled it but most of the solutions don't work for me such as changing msconfig, disconnecting USB devices. Please help?

Will that erase files on my harddrive?

Yes, you need to take your drive and plug it into a different working computer to back it up somewhere else.

Since my computer is working, it just takes a long amount of time, could I back it up on this computer? Also when I install windows onto a flashdrive or dvd, does that require a lot of space? I only have a 8 gig flashdrive available right now.

Oh yeah if your PC still turns on then yeah just back your files up somewhere before you do the clean install.

4GB minimum for the USB drive, so 8 will work.

I'm assuming i'll need another hard drive to backup the files onto right? Because I have quite a bit of files i'd like saved so I dont think itll all fit on a usb flashdrive? Sorry I'm a little new to some of this stuff

Idk how much stuff you have, if you don't have enough space on USBs and google drive or whatever then yeah you will need another drive.

Or maybe just do a big clean up and delete a bunch of stuff you don't need.

Have  you tired to restore windows using the option that does not delete your personal files?  It only changes windows and programs files.

With a little luck this could fix the problem without having to erase your hard drive completely.

Mystery is the source of all true science.
