Fan controller recommendations?

I need a fan controller that can turn off the fans completely. It would be nice if it could display fan speed as well. I was looking for some products from Scythe, Lamptron as well as touch screen controllers from NZXT and BitFenix but couldn't figure out which one is better.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I had the Sentry 2 for a while and decided the temperature sensors were a little cheesy. They add a ton of clutter and don't stay in place very well. If you like a clean case, I'd steer clear. I actually ended up unplugging all of the sensors from the PCB and set the fans to a constant speed. Another issue is that you can't change the curve, so if you're unhappy with the noise, you can't do much other than toggle to manual mode and set each fan to your liking.

Cant you set the temp nodes to different temperature activation?

Ive seen videos of people channging the nodes to a set temp. How crowded does the case become when you have the nodes in it?

Personally i use the bitfenix recon fan controller. The temps that it displays are pretty accurate and can set the fan speed from 0 to what ever the fans max speed is. You can also set the fans to run at a speed appropriate to the current temp. I also personally love the recons display, the display is also bright and responsive for a touch screen. The fan controller also has 5 fan headers.

I've had no complaints about the fan controller so far or any issues..

swifteck 8 way pwm fan splitter and a bunch of pwm fans.

it will cost about as much as the fan controller but you ll be able to buy new fans and your mobo can totally contol all fan speeds.

Anything I write is just a comment, take is as such, there is no guarantees associated with anything I say.

I have a somewhat related question.

Can I control the fan speed of a 3pin fan through my motherboard via the BIOS ? I'm not talking about PWM control, I'm thinking more the lines of running a specific fan @ a constant RPM say 1000 or 1200 ? is it possible to set the RPM of a specific fan in the BIOS ?

Fan Xpert II from Asus can set curves with 3 pin fans, but I do not know what mobo you have. Not sure about control from the BIOS, I have never done it.

Does Gigabyte have a similar feature ?

I use the Scythe Kaze master Ace and it's awesome, it shows you the speed of the 4 channel and have temps sensor too so you put thermal sensors (4 at the same time) where you want ex: ram heatsink and you get precise temps (checked with an infrared thermometer and never it was 1 Celcius aside, directly spot on)

Also each channel can deliver 12W so you can put more fan (ex: 2 intake fans on 1 speed control) and it'll be ok...

Scythe include 8 thermal probes in case you kill one accidently, installation is a breeze but it has a lot of wire so it's difficult to hide but it's hideable.

I paid only like 20$ for it brand new so it's a really good unit for this low price (i have it for a year without any problems)
