DVI-D Question

Guest

Hi All

Quick question for my troubleshooting. Can DVI-D cable's degrade in quality and cause artefacts like VGA can (even though its digital) or is it like HDMI and either shows or doesnt show an image?

Thanks!

HDMI is basically the same as DVI-D, just with additional audio pins.

If you've got artifacts, it's more likely to come from your graphics card.

Laptop: R5 2500U / Radeon Vega 8 / 8GB DDR4-2400 / 500GB SK Hynix BC501 (HP Envy x360 13)

My little Server: i7-7700 / Asrock H110M-ITX / 24GB DDR4-2400 / Samsung 860 Pro 250GB & Seagate Firecuda 2TB / VMware ESXi 6.7

Its my screen unfortunately, I tried a different screen on the same PC and no issue.

I also plugged the screen into by Xbox One and the artefacts occur.

HDMI is based on DVI, they use the same technique for video signaling.
