I am a college student in the U.S. looking for a new laptop for school and occasional gaming. My budget is $1000 and I am willing to spend a max. of $200 more for performance if it makes a significant difference. The software that I need to run is ArcGIS (ArcMap & Catalog) ArcPro, and ERDAS Immagine. Battery life and the trackpad are not that important to me as I use a mouse and have it plugged in most of the time. Good wireless capabilities are a must. As for gaming, I don't run anything crazy, mostly Overwatch, Civilization, Starcraft, and other MOBAs.

Upgradability is also a must. Thanks in advance!

I would suggest a laptop with quad core i5/i7 (or wait for 6 core HQ chips) and at least MX150 GPU. HP Spectre x360 15, Lenovo Ideapad 720S, Asus Zenbooks (may run a bit hot and a bit loud), Acer Swift 3, Lenovo Yoga 720 15, there are many choices. You don't need $1000 for that IMO

Desktop specs:
