I wanted to start this thread to start a discussion on a problem that is merely cosmetic, yet annoying none the less. I have a few RGB peripherals and LED strips that all use different software and are completely incompatible with each other. I use Asus Aura Sync, which I find clunky, unintuitive, and limited in what it can do. I use G.Skills TWO DIFFERENT PROGRAMS for the KM780, and MX780 which are buggy, unreliable, and have limited options. Considering that controlling RBG LEDs doesn't go through the motherboards bios (from my observations), and RGB LEDs are controlled through software through windows that target a specific port/address/header on the hardware through commands. So wouldn't it be possible for third party software to do the same thing? I am aware of the existance of Artemis, but it is limited in it's compatability, and only goes through the USB interface. Not motherboard RGB headers. I understand that Mice and keyboards are vastly different from different manufactures, so the poor compatibility makes sense. But why is it that a cablemod LED strip plugged into a header on an Asus board RGB header are only customizable on Asus Aura sync certified motherboards? Why is it that a motherboard with an RGB header like the Asus B350-Prime Plus, can't use Aura sync and instead has to use inferior software that doesn't allow you to add effects and other options? Is there a special chip on the more expensive board that allows it to do RGB effects? Cause as far as I can tell, RGB is controlled by software and nothing else. "Aura Sync certified" sounds more like a cash grab than a selling point, in my opinion.

The point is why hasn't anyone attempted to create an alternative for Aura Sync, for instance?

I don't claim to be an expert programmer, so this may come off as arrogant, so I apologize if it does.

Thanks for taking your time to read this! :D
