Hi guys,

I’m in the process of upgrading my build and don’t know whether I should wait or not. I’ve decided to go Ryzen 1600 with a GTX 1070 however logic would dictate that Ryzen 2 would be released around February time. Do you think it’s worth waiting that little bit longer?

personally I would have gone with a coffeelake build right now, depending on budget of course. If you have a rig to use in the meantime I would wait

I say if you can just wait and see if ryzen 2 is any good, if it isn’t than just buy the 1600. If you buy the 1600 now you could look back and regret buying the 1600 now but in all honesty i don’t think that ryzen 2 is going to make you hugely regret buying the 1600 now but i could be wrong

I was planning to go with the i5-8400 as it isn’t too different in price compared to the 1600 where I live, but I didn’t want to go for a Z370 board as I wouldn’t need the overclocking capabilities. I was tempted by the 1600 for a few reasons, the cheaper motherboard, the over locking and the more threads, as I plan to run a few servers in virtual box.

The rig rig I have right now it a pile of crap, but I think it’ll last a few more months.

I think I may wait, even if it’s not an improvement I may find the the 1600 gets a little cheaper
