Computer occasionally "lags" out

So ZEUS occasionally "lags" out, so to speak. I'll be watching a YouTube video or playing a game, and all of a sudden it seems to run into a brick wall. The frame rate hits the floor for about 5-10 seconds, and it does this twice every 5-15 minutes. It seemed to start doing this after I swapped out an unsupported processor (which it worked with) with one that is supported. It only has 1 stick of RAM that I know is good. Nothing is running that could possible cause this either. What's the deal?

 

P.S. My Dell did this with 2 512MB sticks, but they had different CAS latency's (2 vs 2.5) so that can't be the problem.

Your CPU was made over 10 years ago, when youtube and most games were nonexistent. That might be the problem.

It does this doing GTA 3, which was in existence. And GTA 1/2. And it's never done this before.

 

I'll be so glad when I have money for Dominator. But you guys probably won't. ^_^

Well, you just have $1,163.69 left to go. My old P4 system did it also, and I just solved it by lowering quality. I'm not a pixel junkie (Im looking at you Marques Brownlee), so I dont care.

Well, you just have $1,163.69 left to go. My old P4 system did it also, and I just solved it by lowering quality. I'm not a pixel junkie (Im looking at you Marques Brownlee), so I dont care. 

Tried 144p (which my old 1GHz P3 and a GeForce4 MX 4000 handled no problem) and the issue persists.

Seeing those specs, I'm amazed it runs at all. Low end tablets have higher FLOPS than that.

It was cheap and has a lot more power than my netbook. But now it's starting to piss me off.

I'd did some benchmarks between my netbook with an Atom N270 and ZEUS. I'm happy I use ZEUS now. And I think I got the measurements right. I'll check tomorrow.

 

ZEUS: 4.5-4.7 GFLOPS/s

Netbook: .5 GFLOPS/s
