I am looking to redo my network, I am looking for options for a better router than a basic d-link piece of $h!t I got now. Currently I have it set up with a second tp-link one acting as an access point but it has its own SSID. I want to create an extended wifi network while keeping gigabit connections to my servers.

I am looking at either pfsense or cisco router options. I am not sure if spending $100 on nics for an old PC I could turn into the pfsense box would be a wise idea or not. Cisco low end is the top of my budget for this project so sticking with PFSense would be ideal. I want to do seperate VLAN's for different things such as wifi network, server VLAN, desktops, and an admin VLAN. I know if I went with PFSense that it prefers Intel nic's which one would be a good option? Or would any work? I do know and use cisco weekly for work but learning PFSense doesn't seem like a huge deal to me.

For switches, I currently have a cheap 5 port d-link one but again not liking it and am thinking Cicso or netgear options. Not sure if I need PoE for the access points below or not.

Access point I am looking at:

Any errors in my plan you see or recommendations?

To give any good advice I first need to know the situation you have now. Like how big of an area are we talking about. How many clients will connect in different ways. How many servers are we talking about and what kind of things are they doing. What kind of load do you expect etc.
