I'm looking for a new monitor (<£150). I hear everywhere that IPS panels are better and there are some IPS monitors in my budget but since they are so cheap is there really much difference between a cheap IPS and a TN? Since I will only have 1 monitor which I will sit in front of viewing angle are not important and all I do is game and browse the web.

Also, could anyone recommend a monitor that is:

  • <£150
  • 23/24"
  • 1080p
  • Black/grey
  • Preferably matte or something that wont collect dust and fingerprints
  • I can connect my PC and XBOX to simultaneously

Don't mean to hijack someone else's thread, but not really worth starting my own and definitely on topic as this may also be a monster the OP may want to consider, would the dell s2340m monitor for $170 be a good gaming monitor? I am somewhat worried about the 7ms response time that it has and whether or not the monitor will have ghosting in any use. In the user manual it also says that without overdrive that the response time is 14ms, is overdrive just a setting in the menu? Here is a link to the monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260109

For OP connecting Xbox and pc the sXX40l series would work, while the m as I mentioned only has dvi and VGA

That is a very nice looking monitor, however, it is a bout £40 more than the Viewsonic one. It's still a possibility, thanks.

Just got this monitor to replace my ageing Philips 220C. 2 HDMI, VGA, and Dual 2W speakers, which sound alright. One of the thinnest monitors on the market too. Also, £132.

All reviews about it are 90% or over, and highly recommended.
