Job Application Question

Go to solution Solved by voaz,

1. To gain alot of experience within this world to exploit my creative approach on the future technology.

2. Helping people make the right decision for what they want and make them a happy customer in the end with the thought in the head of knowing you've helped them with the best hardware without any overkill things they don't need/use.

I need a professional answer to these question, I'm applying at TheSource since I love computers and I like to inform people about computers, I'm really persuasive too.

If this helps, I'm good with computers (built 3 computers from scratch), going to pursue a degree in Computer Science, (I'm 17)I'm a person that love to inform other people about technology

1. Why are you interested in a career with The Source Canada Ltd?

2. What do you feel you would enjoy about working in a retail electronics sales environment?

Edit: Also, it asks "What your salary expectations are"  I don't know what to pick, I'm a student and minimum wage (10.25) is fine for me

I would disagree with this one.

This is a retail store, you don't want to say things like that, since you are supposed to be getting as much money as possible out of the customer (sorry but its true), not insinuating you will make sure they get the hardware for what they need and no more (like a customer saying they want xx and you said what for, they say xx and you say xx is a better deal for less price etc)

I wouldn't want to "work" just to make the maximum profit.

Yes, but thats not how retail works.

In an ideal world you will make sure customers get the best deal without over doing it, but that will sharply get you sacked for costing the business money, you need to re-word it be more vague.

What would YOU say then?

I would personally word it somewhat more vague in that case.

Something like (leading of question 1):

I have been using technology for years and I developed a interest in electronics of all types while researching to further my own knowledge base so I am informed and knowledgeable about the particular areas I am interested in.  I enjoy the trill of helping others get a deal that is best suited for there needs and making sure they can leave the store knowing they have received excellent customer service and information from the staff so they are more likely to become a recurring customer and visit the store again in the future.

As a very vague answer, could add some 'flare' to it and give it a more personal touch.

But that's the basis of what I would say in such a situation.

Ofc not, but you can't say things like making sure customers don't go overkill with what they dont need etc.  Thats bad for business.

You just need to be more vague in the answer to get around the retail hell hole of sell sell sell.

I didn't use your answers, but I already applied and I don't want people to post since I don't need answers anymore

Not all retail stores are like that. Staples takes the "inspired selling" approach which is exactly what he said.
