Hey guys,

I recently bough a new MOBO, CPU and RAM, but had to send the motherboard back since a RAM-slot seemed to be not working.

While waiting for a new motherboard I mounted my other parts I just replaced. It's a MSI Z97 Gaming 7 motherboard with a intel i5 4690k and 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1333MHz. When I'm playing H1Z1 - Just Survive the CPU is on constant 100% usage and my PC is very slow, including the lightning animation on my keyboard. It wasn't like this before. It's jumping all from 10-40% when I am not in a game, which I assume is acceptable. But how come there's such a difference? Have I done something wrong? Temps are fine btw.

Did you reinstall windows? Could also have reset the BIOS.

Check whether windows is set to balanced at power options, and that speedstepping is enabled in the BIOS.

I just changed the power setting to Balanced. I will check BIOS in a while. I did not re-install Windows. It says "Aktivate Windows" down in the right corner for some reason?

It was activated before, when I changed to the new parts I had the watermark but I was too lazy to fix it. Now when I switched back to the old parts it is still there and I can't activate it because I get the error 0xC004F034.

Oh wait, you didnt reinstall Windows? Then I know the cause: driver conflicts. It is mandatory to reinstall the OS entirely when you swap the motherboard. The fact that you can still enter the system is already a miracle. Most people just get BSOD or boot loops.

I'm assuming this is now an issue where it wasn't before? Or did you not play that game prior to swapping everything out?

This issue have not been here before no. I tried the game when I had my new parts in, but with 8GB of RAM instead of 16GB. The game were using about 100% of the RAM but not near 100% of CPU.

Oh really? Even now when I have swapped back to my old parts? I didn't install anything special when I had the new parts in.

Whenever you boot, the motherboard will install new drivers into the OS without taking old drivers into account. That's why the OS doesnt work as it did even with the old parts.

Ah okey, you learn something new everyday. So I have to re-install my OS if I want it to work properly? Do you think this has something to do with the high CPU usage?

I did play the game on the old hardware and it did not have this problem then. I mounted in the new motherboard, CPU and RAM and it worked fine as well. Now I've sent the new hardware back because of 1 RAM-slot not working. So I put the old hardware back in my PC and now I have this problem. Btw Majestic, do I want Speedstepping enabled or disabled? And Should I have Windows Power Options set to Balanced? Thanks!

Could be the BIOS not responding to OS's command to raise the clock speed. You can check the clock speed though.

Not true, i changed my mobo couple of times recently and windows automatically install new drivers on my pc at boot so i don't think old drivers make any hurdle.

You got lucky on that. When I upgraded my system I can log into my account but the taskbar glitched out.

Hey guys, I am still experiencing this issue. However I try to ignore it until I get my new motherboard back. I was gonna try to enable Speedstepping but can't find it ANYWHERE. I don't even know if my motherboard (MSI Z97 Gaming 7) supports it. I have googled, tried to find videos, checked bios... do I have to update my bios maybe?
