Hi

I build a system with a 1920x and 2x 1080 SLI on a Zenith Extreme motherboard. Recently I've been noticing that my second GPU won't be detected by the system once I boot up from a shutdown. I then have to shut down, unplug, and restart the system one or more times for it to recognize the card (in BIOS or Windows). I'm using all the latest drivers (388.43), BIOS (0701) and Windows 10. I'm certain that this isn't a hardware issue as it will arise and can be fixed without any physical interference on my part.

Basically a huge pain!

Please let me know if any of you guys have run across the same issue and/or know how to fix it! (Resetting bios/cleaning drivers didn't work)

Thanks

Does it disappear from Device Manager?

Have you removed both cards and tried re-seating them?

Have you tried to completely uninstall Nvidia drivers and then do a clean install?

Have you tried running each card individually to rule out single card flakiness/failure? Also tried running a single card in that second slot to rule out slot flakiness/failure?

Are you using a SLI bridge and have you made sure to connect the proper PSU power cables?

Have you tried another PSU port for your PCIe power (assuming that it is modular)?

The card works fine once the system is rebooted without physical interference, most likely ruling out there being a hardware issue. Yes as I said before I have done a driver reinstall. The cards are correctly seated (wouldn't work at all if not). When this happens the card isn't detected in BIOS nor Windows. As far as I know a bridge should make a difference, but regardless I do have one installed. The cards have LEDs showing that adequate power is being supplied at all times.

I'm wondering if this problem has something to do with device initialization in BIOS...

Will recommend trying both of the above. Just because it boots fine initially or shows the correct LEDs is not by itself a guarantee that everything is actually fine with the hardware. If you are confident there is no issue without trying this then I have nothing more to add than suggesting you re-flash your BIOS or switch to the backup BIOS (if your board allows that).
