I have a new R5 1600X running at 3.9 GHz. When I boot up into BIOS it shows its spiking above 1.5 volts which I am really not comfortable with... Is there a proper way to lower the Voltage and hit 4.0 GHz?

Also my RAM is rated for 2400MHz and when I set it to that speed (without increasing voltage from 1.20 volts) it just crashes and forces me to reset the bios.

Help?

Mobo is Asus Prime B350 Plus

PSU is Corsair CX550M

RAM is Corsair Vengeance LPX

CPU R5 1600X.

you'll need higher memory voltage and also, the voltage is normal for X chip.

use HWInfo64 and run P95 cpu stress, then check the voltage reported by the CPU

I thought that AMD said that the chips shouldn't be running above 1.5 volts? Also do you think I have headroom to hit 4.0GHz?

I honestly don't know about the Voltage. Every time I try to OC my 1600X in my Gigabyte UEFI I don't see an option for voltage, but even so it has a preset to type in what GHz you run at. I usually just put 3.8GHz but I rarely see it go above 3.7. Honestly it hasn't been much of an issue, as I don't experience slowdowns from a bottleneck in the CPU.

As dave mentioned, use HWiNFO64 to gauge what the CPU Core Voltage is. Let it run for a while. Run a few stress tests or benchmarks to give the CPU a load. I'll post a picture and a youtube link that may be useful. You shouldn't be exceeding 1.425v. You can apply a negative offset if it's going too high. You'll just need to verify stability with Aida64 or something.

Absolutely IGNORE the end of the video where he instructs you to set Load-line Calibration to Extreme. That's a horrible suggestion to give people who need a video to explain how to overclock. You can use Reg and Med fairly safely, but you should only use LLC if you know what you're doing. Research it first, but never use Extreme LLC.
