Hi, I recently decided to put together a pc from some old parts I had lying around. Everything worked fine until I fired up CS:GO. Game runs at 30 to 45 fps on lowest settings and 1024*768 resolution and GPU-z shows GPU usage 0% on my Radeon HD6870. CPU is running at 40%. Even my Surface pro 4 is running the game better at same settings. Does anyone have any idea why games aren't using the amd gpu at all? If so any solution?

And benchmarks utilize 100% GPU on fuzzy donut of death.

Use Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall the GPU drivers and install the freshly downloaded drivers from AMD website.

Make sure your monitor is connected to the back of your graphics card and not your motherboard. Sorry if this sound too basic but sometimes even experienced builders makes this mistake. If that is not the case I would go with Kameshss solution and if that is not working too we can find something else to help you with.

Thank you I will try reinstalling the drivers. And monitor is plugged into GPU. I have some experience. ?

Beta or release. I have tried both and haven't worked so far. But I can give it one more try.

WHQL signed. Try beta if WHQL isn't working.

Could you tell me your computer specs with model names? It might be that your CPU does not have an integrated gpu. Also it seems to be quite old and that is the reason why it runs so slow. Tho, 0% GPU usage still sounds weird as heck.

Yeah it is old and slow.

Intel ICES-003 Class B (DG31PR)

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHz (box cooler)

4GB of RAM (i don't know the brand)

Cooler master RS 400 PSAP J3

AMD Radeon 6870

250 GB drive

Anything else?

Your CPU does not have integrated graphics so what I told you about disabling it from BIOS doesn't make much sense, sorry, I should have asked for specs before.

Steam reports minimum requirements for the game:

  •  Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 processor or better
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Video card must be 256 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel

So your system seems to be well in specs to run at least with low presets.

Here a link to a video showing a similar system running the game, this is what you should expect.

You already installed new drivers and didn't help.
I suppose the GPU is also properly seated or else you would't have any picture showed on your screen. What I would try next is to make sure the card is properly connected to the power supply and receives enough power to run. What model and Wattage your power supply have?

I think that the card has enough power. When I run fuzzy donnut of death benchmark it goes up to 100% load.

My psu is 400W cooler master as I said before.

And when you take out the radeon gpu and conect vga to motherboard it will show image on screen.
