Strange black screen PC issue

monkeyman7444

OK, so I've built my new PC and I get a black screen on boot

However when turning on the system, the power button is on and my LED ram turns on, but no fans spin (Case or CPU or GPU)

Specs are:

Ryzen 5 1600

Stock cooler

Gigabyte Gaming 3 motherboard

16GB Corsair 3000mhz vengence LED ram

EVGA GTX 1070 SC

WD blue 1TB 7200 RPM drive

Samsung 650 pro 250GB SSD

650W Evga CPU

NZXT S340

I have no idea what's going on

I know the USB ports are working, and the power LED turns on, however nothing else happens

Can you please post the link to the specs page for your motherboard or a model number, and a model number for your RAM as well please?
What was the last thing you did?

Have you booted this machine before now?

Is your monitor plugged in to your motherboard or your gpu?

Is your monitor turned on?

Have you tried reseating your components (memory, GPU)?

Does your computer case beep on motherboard POST?

@michelin_boi

MB:http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-3-rev-10#kf

RAM:CMU16GX4M2C3000C15R

Last thing i did was plug in the graphics card, however this is the first time i am turning it on

I've tried plugging the hdmi port into both the MB and the GPU

Yes the monitor is turned on, i know because the standby button is on, and when initially turning it on it says "no signal"

I have tried taking the GPU out and putting it in again if that is what you mean by reseating, however not the RAM as that seems to be working

My case/Motheboard does not beep or make any sound when turning on

I have tried the USB's on the MB as well now and they seem to be working

Try taking out the GPU for now, and unplug it from the PSU. Plug your monitor into your motherboard video out. Take out all memory and insert only one module at a time into slot 0 on the motherboard. Rotate through your memory and see if you can get BIOS to show up.

OK tried each of these things, still no BIOS, RAM LED's still work but still no case fans or CPU fans spinning

How confident are you with your CPU installation in the socket? It unlikely that your RAM is all bad. Have you tried other cables or cable types? (VGA if your mobo supports it for instance) Have you tried a different monitor?

I am confident the monitor works, as it worked on a separate PC and have tried both VGA and HDMI with this PC, with both saying No Display after plugging them in this PC. I'm 99% sure that the CPU is installed correctly, but I have not checked since putting on the CPU cooler obviously.

I'll admit. I'm running out of options. I have a guy right now with a similar problem, but his is def memory related. If memory isn't a factor and you're not even getting POST on boot, let alone BIOS, it might be a CPU/MOBO issue... You made sure to test each module seperately, right?

I'm almost 100% certain it is not a memory issue. i'll look under the CPU cooler to see if i did something extremely stupid like miss-align it, but thanks for your help and patience anyway.

I'll let you know when I fix it in the end :)

Hehe! Thanks so much, I'm invested now so keep us posted. I know how frustrating it can be when a build is done and doesn't turn on. I had just finished building a NAS on a SuperMicro integrated board and I was pulling out hair all day.

@michelin_boi

I finally got it fixed, had to take apart and put everything back together (apart from CPU/CPU cooler/MB) and it just worked first time.

No idea what changed, did nothing different, just one of those things I guess lol. Maybe a bad connection, but whatever it was, it works now and i'm not gonna question it.

Thanks again for the help, just got to install drivers now.
