Why is it only 4K that get's HDR?

 

Or would it make 4K look even more pointless? 

Guarna: R5 1600, Asrock Taichi, AMD Fury Nitro (Heating space since '15), 16 GB Samsung DDR4 2666 (3000mhz OC) Green PCB ugly stuff.

there is no reason it couldn't exist, it just likely won't, the TV industry is full bore on the whole 4k TV thing now and 4k prices now rival 1080p prices of just a few years ago so putting a new technology into a technology that is being phased out doesn't make much sense, think about it, how many people would buy a 1080p HDR TV at the same Price (or even within 50 bucks) of a 4k HDR TV, because you know they wouldn't sell 1080p HDR at the same price as regular 1080p.
