settings>system>storage: change where new content is saved. also redirect desktop, documents, downloads, etc to your storage drive as well. My os drive is 60gb filled and that's with a couple ~10 gb programs so you don't need a large ssd, just be mindful of what you put on it

Just going to casually Hi-Jack this thread. Is it possible then to set it so downloading specific filetypes default to going on different drives? 

CPU: R5 3600 @ 4.4 GHz

RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz

GPU: RTX 2080 Super

well you can set a download directory through your browser, only way I know to have different files go different places is to manage that manually

I keep them on my hdd, they don't need faster storage unless you're doing video editing
