Hey guys,

 

So in the picture below, the little metal piece with the ASRock logo is pretty hot. Not so hot that I can't touch it, but just noticeably hotter than anything else on the board. Also, (notice that I don't know what I'm doing yet?) does that red light mean anything? Should it be on? The manual was not very helpful. This is a z270 Taichi from ASRock.

The piece of metal is a heatsink for some chips so it's expected to be warm. The light is most likely a power indicator to show that the motherboard is getting power from the PSU, so it's fine that it's turned on.

The LED is most likely saying it's on.
Dont worry about the Asrock logo being warm, that's just normal. I believe that's the Chipset of the board

That's the chipset heatsink, and it gets pretty hot. On older boards, they could get hot enough that it would feel uncomfortable if you touched it.
