Hmm. Sounds like a standoff problem, make sure all those are installed

Hey guys. I put together a MATX build today as a media streamer/alt computer to tinker with but the darn things refuses to boot.

From time to time, the computer will start for approx. half a second and then cut out. I have tried removing RAM and moving them around the different slots, and tried one stick of RAM (with both) in all slots and I've reseated all cables and hardware to no avail. I have noticed though that when I apply a small amount of pressure to the bottom right corner of the MoBo, the computer boots but doesn't have any visual output. All fans are running; the GPU fans are running and the computer is evidently on.

Processor: i5 4440;

16GB Crucial DDR3 RAM;

60GB SSD; 500GB HDD;

Nividia GeForce 750TI;

Coolermaster Hyper 103 CPU Cooler;

AVP Hyperion Case;

Corsair CX550 PSU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm close to throwing the blasted thing out of the window.

Can you test different hardware in another system? Although to me it sounds almost like it could be a motherboard or PSU problem.

I tested the PSU, RAM and GPU on another motherboard whilst I was waiting for the current motherboard to arrive. So that literally does leave the Mobo as the issue!

I'll rip everything back out again and check all the stand-offs.

I wouldn't think standoffs would be too big of a problem(unless you actually did forget some), you could also try running the computer outside of the case(the box makes a very handy antistatic testbench for this purpose), and if you still can't get it to work, RMA it.

and you were right! I had a rogue standoff that (I'm assuming) was short-circuting my motherboard. Thank you for your help!
