Surround Sound Speaker Setup

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a surround sound (5.1/7.1) speaker setup that I can fit in a roughly 11ft.  by 11 ft. (3.3 by 3.3 meters) space. Volume isn't a huge priority due to the size of the space so sound quality should take priority. Neutral-ish sound preferred, a little bit of extra bass is ok. Budget is preferably under $300 USD, but flexible. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Do you have any equipment, like a receiver, to start with? For that budget, you're going to need to buy one of those boxed sets. Monoprice does make a set of speakers that sounds pretty good but you need a receiver.

I might have one in a moving box in the basement somewhere. Assuming I do have a receiver what would you recommend?
