Hello, I am having trouble with my desktop where I am unable to install any updates at all. When I attempt to update, it states "We couldn't update the system reserved partition". According to windows, this is because the manufacturer (HP) did not create a big enough of a partition, and instructed me to back up the computer and reinstall windows. Anyone know if there is a way around this? Otherwise what is the easiest way to back up everything? I have multiple hard drives inside my computer with programs installed on them, but one has enough space to back up my boot drive. I wouldn't like any of my applications to be affected because I have many video games and don't want to lose the saves.

Thank you!

I dont know of a way myself but in windows disk partition software you may be able to change the size of the partition.

See if you can fix it after reading this.

Thank you!

since windows has onedrive installed by default just go to this and create a folder called game saves backups

now create a shortcut of each save game folder and place here in the new onedrive folder

but this is kinda tedious so go to control panel then backup then select create system image

now select the hdd you said you have room on

after you do this you can launch a bootdisk and delete and repartition primary hdd then run the new image you have to recover right to this update issue but now with expanded recovery partition

To fix such a kind of issue, just extend the system reserved partition (on MBR disk) or EFI system partition (on GPT disk). A freeware could do this, and you can find lots of such programs on the internet. minitool partition wizard is my favorite.
