I just got into pc gaming this year and I have a really old computer and I want a upgrade. I have a budget of at maximum $800 but I would like it to be $750-$600. I have a idea for a build but if someone could help me edit my current build or help me it would be nice.

Oh and do I need a SSD (expensive little thing is what I’m thinking of)  and a larger hard drive (big cheaper silver storage come in TB and up) or what

do I need a extra attachment to connect to wifi if not using Ethernet

Or should I just buy a prebuilt

You should probably go with the i5 8400 and wait for ATX B360 boards to come out.

So I copied your current list, I do tend to agree that it might be worth waiting for the i5 8400 and the B360 boards to come out. Although if you are in a hurry the setup you have right now will work just fine. With the mobo you chose, you will need a wireless NIC. Wireless NICs are fairly cheap (about $35 for a good one). I did add an ssd to the build. One thing that you want to make sure you add into your budget is a windows 10 key. You can buy them legit for about $80-90 or you could buy it off a site that may be a bit sketch, and unethical. Attached is the revised version that I would personally recommend. One final thing I would make sure to do is with your RAM I would recommend doing a 1x8 not a 2x4, as going with a 1x8 allows for better future expandibility.

that 4 core is going to start holding you back in the future, right now i would advise you to wait as in february new cpus will come out from amd, and around the same time the cheaper boards for coffelake will probably be released, so wait for that, try to get a 6 core cpu as now 4 cores is the low end, and the 6 core chips are not expensive, there is also the possibility to get a 1600 ryzen chip and a b350 board (as long as you dont plan to overclock too much) if you dont want to wait

  • 2 weeks later...

No point in getting the Z270 Mobo and the 7600k. There is no upgrade path. Wait for new boards to come out in Q1 2018 and get an i5 8400. No point in buying them now as the boards are expensive.
