Lm/ntlm hashes

Say you have dumped the hashes for an account on a computer, and you get the username followed by the lm hash:Ntlm hash. Are these both hashes of the password? Aren’t lm hashes exponentially easier to crack than ntlm?

The LM hash is only present for backwards compatibility and is disabled by default on any sane configuration.
