Silent AMD System

Heya'll,

 

I can't say this is my first build, I've made various builds for others (internship and family/friends), but now I finally can build my own.

 

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630

Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. V-M3A3200 (AM2)

RAM: 3,00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 401MHz (5-5-5-18) (2GB+1GB)

GPU: Geforce 210 512MB Palit

Case: ASUS V-M3A3200

Storage: SSD 840 PRO 128GB & Seagate Barracuda 2TB

PSU: ASUS 230W

Display: Belinea Bel2225S1W (1680x1050@60Hz)

Cooling: Stock

Keyboard: IBM Model M

Mouse: Logitech 570M

 

Parts that I've ordered/bring along from my old system:

CPU: AMD FX-8350

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP 16GB (Will overclock to 1.5v CL9-T1 2133mhz )

GPU: Geforce 210 512MB Palit (temporarily, hopefully will be replacing it with a R9 290 or two, with of course more silent/better coolers)

Case: Fractal Design Define R4

Storage: SSD 840 EVO 120GB (I hope to replace the PCI-e SSD with an Intel P3700 (probably 400GB/800GB depending on price) if it can be used as boot, I really hope so..)

Seagate Barracuda 2TB (Hanging in a 5.25" Sharkoon Vibe-Fixer)

PSU: Corsair AX1200i Platinum

 

Additional stuff:

Display: Belinea Bel2225S1W (1680x1050@60Hz) (I would like a 16:10 1200x1920 or 2560x1600 22"-24" IPS monitor)

Keyboard: IBM Model M

Mouse: Logitech M570

Thermal Paste: Acrtic Silver 5 (Along with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, a Arctic Clean kit and coffee filters/a little microfiber cloth)

Thermal Adhesive: Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive (I'll probably use it later on the video cards)

3.5" HDD to 5.25" converter: Sharkoon Vibe-Fixer

 

I will take new pictures of my current build so far tomorrow. (Changed a good few things, such as mounting the NH-D14 the otherway around... heh)

Sadly, I won't be able to play with it yet, because the AX1200i is out of stock.

What did you already spend on it i can't tell you anything without a budget. Also are you reusing a hdd?

you could go ahead and get a 290 with a hybrid cooler like the arctic one or NZXT's G10.

there are issues with the reference 290s in general, better to just wait for custom PC's, custom power deliveries and also the custom coolers.

What did you already spend on it i can't tell you anything without a budget. Also are you reusing a hdd?

Approx. €980,49 I believe. (Got some good deals)

 

Edit: Yes I am reusing a HDD, I might go and add another Seagate Barracuda 2TB in there, for a RAID1 setup.

 

And I could say I can spend another €1000, but not all at once. hehe

I try not to spend to much, but I also want a nice beast that plays Star Citizen on Ultra.

I was planning on getting an NZXT G10, but I might go with a custom air cooler, like a 'proligmatech mk-26"', or whatever is better?

Yea, I am actually waiting for the ASUS Direct CU II R9 290. Then I'll decide what to do about the cooler.

You hardly need the 1200i.  The 860i would be perfectly fine for even 2 290's i believe.  But it would handle the 1.  If you want this to be silent then AMD GPUs aren't the way to go, since they max the fans and temps for the best performance.
