Hey guys,

First of all, lets start with what caused all of this mess. Around 3 weeks ago one of my monitors made a short circuit and broke my display port cable. I got a new one and hooked the monitor back up thinking everything was fine until it caused my internet to go down. Ye i know.. how???
So i send my monitor back to where i got it hoping they could fix the problem, they said that they replaced the display port connection and send it back to me. Hooked it up again and the internet went down again....

Now some information about my specs:

I'm running windows 10
CPU: Inter Core i5 4690k @3.50GHz
RAM: 16GB Dual0Channel DR3 @799Mhc
Motherboard: ASRok Z97 Extreme4
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 ROG Strix OC
Monitors: Zowie XL LCD 2560x1440  This one is causing the problem.
               BnQ GW2765 2560x1440  Works Fine

Now for internet im using a wireless connector called: Asus PCE-AC68 AC1900 Dual-Band
It's something you plug into your motherboard for wireless internet.

Now the weird part is that as soon as i connect my Zowie monitor the wireless internet goes down, but when i connect it with a LAN cable it's all fine. When i disconnect the monitor my wireless connection comes back up. I also put in my old GPU ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 ) and hooked up both my monitors and its all working fine with my wireless internet.

So i'm wondering, wth am i supposed to do? Is my monitor the problem? Is it the GPU? Did the short circuit in my monitor fuck with my whole system? I get that this is a vague story and i'm happy to answer any questions you have, English is not my first language so bare with me please ^^

display drive circut for DP might be borked to shit in a way that either makes it drain a LOT of PCIe power or causes some major EM interference blocking out the wifi, both seem like pretty unlikely things but they are the first that come to mind tbh

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

The thing is tho that when i just connect my monitor that is causing this problem the internet also goes down, with just one monitor connecting.

Also something i should mention is that i played with both monitors and my wireless connection for 2 hours yesterday and after that it went to shit again.

Yeah, it seems like the DP controller/driver board is mucked up and sucking too much power. Do you have an older system or something you could plug the 1070 and wireless into to try it on that.

Also it May be your psu since I had an issue with a SATA cable chain on my psu once and it caused my motherboard to not receive enough power to run stable( baisically the Psu had blown up inside and was incorrectly distributing power)

what PSU do you have?

if the display drive for just that DP port is messed up there would only be problems with that port. can you connect the other monitor to that port and see if the issue is still there?

PSU is GX 650W, already tried switching ports. Still had the same problem.

did you try with just the absolutely fine monitor in the seemingly broken port?

Try the zowie monitor on the broken port Without the BenQ monitor attached

Tried everything already with that moniton and DP slots, switched it around, different cable. Every single time i connect this monitor it breaks my wireless connection.

So you would say there is something wrong with the monitor but right now im playing with both monitors on my old GPU (GTX570) this one only has one dp tho so im using the good monitor on a dvi slot and the bad monitor with the display cable. Working just fine.

Alright, thats something i can look into. Doesn't really explain tho why its killing my wireless internet if the pci slot of the gpu is sort of broken?

Well it could be doing some funny business with data. Sucking more power through the mobo or something. Did you try swapping the two cards over inside your system
